Experiencing increased levels of stress in our day – hour by hour – especially in areas where we have a stress-weakness is a very natural occurrence. Advanced societies throughout the world have experienced these growing levels of stress and Anxiety Disorder in our daily lives, especially when compounded with the challenges of family, money, job, relationships, children, and can cause an anxiety attack.
Because there are issues that affect us uniquely and with greater effect than in the lives of others these may be seen as ‘soft’ areas in our natural psycho-armor and how we deal with them in avoiding a panic attack. For people in high-stress jobs, they may not have much cushion to protect them, since they are typically already stressed. Therefore, these high-stress career driven individuals are typically prime candidates for stress-related illness and generally less resilient psyches to begin with.
Managing Anxiety and Stress in our lives if the subject of widespread research. What the recent studies tend to indicate is that the creative people are the ones that seem to have their psychological house in order as compared to the rest of us. It seems that left-brained individuals are naturally more cerebral in general and are more in touch with their cognitive processes than their right-brained counterparts. Some people just seem to cope better and that realization has led specifically to more in depth studies to determine if it is just a better fit for a stress-related environment or are they doing something cognitively that can be modeled and learned.
Here are the resultant conclusions of some of the recent studies – acknowledging as we do that there are not clinical, scientific findings but rather open-ended case study analyses and therefore while informative are not clinically statistical or scientific findings.
- Copers seem to better manage their day, recognizing the need to spend time both away from their work site and their work-related kind of thinking. Examples of this tendency or technique are people who consciously leave their worksite daily and take a walk in the park or around the block.
- Copers maintain a regular exercise schedule and regimen. If you only exercise twenty minutes daily, you can still have a positive impact on physical health and stress-venting.
- Copers seem to be able to relax and smell the roses. Enough said.
- Copers seem to stay away from competitive sports, arguments, and network news.
